The Glocal Public Policy and Management Institute is an organization dedicated to the research and practice of public policy that integrates global perspectives with local realities. While offering policy proposals that respond to the specific needs of local communities, the institute also provides globally informed solutions to pressing societal challenges.

Key areas of focus include policy analysis aimed at fostering regional development, comparative research on international public policies, and support for policy recommendations developed in collaboration with local governments. Additionally, the institute advances the development of policy evaluation methods using data science and artificial intelligence, offering practical approaches to addressing both regional and global issues.

By working closely with policymakers and community leaders, the institute strives to contribute to the realization of a more sustainable and inclusive society.

A Thorough Deep-Dive into Public Policy

We conduct an in-depth exploration of public policy, focusing on internationally utilized approaches to policy management—including policy process theory and third-party evaluation methods—alongside other related fields.

In practice, our research involves integrated investigations with local governments, studies on third-party evaluation methods applied to local governments and nonprofit organizations in the U.S. and other countries, and the development of new perspectives on pressing societal issues such as population decline, aging, and social security.

政策過程論、政策への第三者評価手法をはじめとして国際的に活用されている政策マネジメントへのアプローチやその他関連する領域を徹底的に深掘りしていきます。

実際には自治体との一体的調査や米国をはじめとする地方政府や非営利法人への第三者評価手法に関する研究、そして社会課題である少子高齢化や社会保障への新しい考え方を示して参ります。

Beyond Interdisciplinarity: Where Policy Meets Art, Tradition Embraces Generative AI

In every town, in every country, people of diverse backgrounds live side by side—each bringing with them unique histories, cultural traditions, technological expertise, and sensibilities. To govern even a single small town effectively, a multifaceted perspective is essential.

Our institute aims to move beyond conventional academic boundaries, respecting traditional values while embracing new ideas. We foster a research environment not limited by rigid formats. Instead, we actively invite participation from researchers and practitioners whose disciplines may initially seem unrelated—precisely to discover new possibilities.

For example, a bonsai master or a marketing expert may be brought into a policy management project for a small town. Through such seemingly unlikely collaborations, new dots are connected—broadening perspectives and opening up fresh, creative solutions. This is the spirit with which we operate.

そのため、一つの小さな町を運営する政策にも多角的な視点が必要不可欠になります。従来の価値観を重んじつつも、新しい風を吹き込むような研究機構にしていくため、具体的には形式に縛られず、多くのプロジェクトでは関係が希薄だと思われるような研究者や実務家に参加していただき、新しい可能性を模索してきます。例えば、一つの町の政策マネジメントに盆栽の専門家が入ったり、マーケティングの専門家が入ったりと、可能性が広がっていく点と点がつながっていくそんな運営を行っております。
